Short Survey
The SAU (Suzuki Association of Utah) has a survey to see the interest in the state-wide Gala Celebration Concert they do every 5 years. It's a huge commitment -time and money- for everyone involved and they might not be able to continue it. It's such an awesome opportunity and I would hate to see it discontinued. The survey asks how many volunteer hours your family would be willing to give. I know it seems impossible for us to do much from southern Utah but they are trying to come up with ways we can help from home or the day of. If you have any ideas for fundraising or sponsors let them know on the survey. Complete survey here: PARENT SURVEY

The end of May we'll be having a studio Suzuki Play-In where we'll play through the Suzuki repertoire, students joining in as we get to the pieces they know. We'll be talking about 'review' in the Suzuki method through-out the month and how to implement effective review in daily practice. Stay tuned for more!

Send me pics/videos of talent shows, St. Patrick's performance, Gold Cup recital, Festival, etc. to share with everyone!

Concerts to Attend

I recently had the opportunity to watch Jenny Oaks Baker perform. As I was listening I told myself "This is just what I needed!"  It is always so inspiring and motivating to attend live performances!  I appreciate the hours upon hours of practice and hard work (because I know it's not just talent they were born with) the performers give to play at such a high level. This is also why I love watching the Olympics- Everyone knows they didn't get there without hard work and dedication!

I can't express how important it is to attend live performances!  I remember my mom taking us to many live performances growing up. One time we went to Las Vegas to hear Itzhak Perlman perform. Another time we got tickets to watch Andre Rieu and the Johann Strauss Orchestra perform in Salt Lake City. There were many great performances in Cedar City and St. George we took advantage of too.  I especially remember violinists, Eugene Fodor and Roberto Cani, the Fry Street Quartet and Barrage just to name a few.

Cedar City and St. George continue to offer great concerts. I've made a list at the top of the page of Concerts to Attend 2012-2013.
Here are two that I recommend:
The Southwest Symphony in St. George has a great family friendly concert on Tues., Oct. 30th. Wear Costumes!
The Orchestra of Southern Utah is performing Nov. 8th in Cedar City with soloist, Dr. Paul Abegg from Dixie College
