March Violin News

Image result for quotes about the month of March

Can you believe it's a new month? The past few months have really flown by!
Spring is a busy time and we have quite a few events this month. Mark your calendars and plan to attend.
Southern Utah String Festival, Sat. Mar. 3rd at Canyon View Middle School
Arrive at least 20-15 min. before your performance time so you can find your room and warm-up. You can get your instrument out and warm-up in the Faculty Lunch Rm. There won't be a piano available so warm-up with your accompanist before hand. Sunday-best dress is appropriate.
Print 3 Judging Sheets and 1 Rating Record form for each performance (solo and/or duet). The forms are on the website under FORMS. Find your Performance Time, Room, Entry #, and Level on the Student Schedule posted on the website.
Fill out the forms before Saturday! Don't forget to put both pieces on the judging forms under 1st selection/Composer and 2nd selection/Composer. "Suzuki" pieces are considered the required piece and should be performed first, fiddle or other pieces, second.
Bring your original music. If you are borrowing music from me remember to pick it up and return it to the Front Desk. If you are using music (solo or duet) remember to make a copy so the judges can look off the original music. Music stands will be provided.

No Suzuki Group Wed., Mar. 14 because of SUU Spring Break (Mar. 12-16).
We'll just keep the regular lesson schedule this week -let me know if you'll be gone so I can open up your time for students who want to reschedule.

St. Patrick's Day performance at Brookdale Senior Living (995 South Regency Road, Cedar City, UT) and ice-cream party!
Sat., Mar. 17th 2:00pm
This is an optional performance but I still need to know who will be there. I need a commitment (yes or no) no later than Mon., Mar. 5th. Students may play one or both (depending on time) pieces they prepared for Festival. Fiddle pieces are perfect!  Also, if any students play piano and would like to perform a piece that would be awesome- just let me know!
We will meet at Dairy Queen after for ice-cream!
Add these fiddle pieces to your weekly review (you only have to play the ones you know).
Boil the Cabbage (beginner part play both repeats, advanced part play straight through -no repeats)
Old Joe Clark (beginner part straight through 2x, advanced part play straight through -no repeats)
Devil's Dream (2x)
Wake up Susie Reel (with repeats)
Paddy on the Turnpike (2x)

Studio Group
Studio Group will be the week of Mar. 26-30.
I need everyone to step up their attendance to studio group! Here are the dates- make it happen!
Wed., Mar. 28th, Thurs., Mar. 29th and Fri., Mar. 30th.

Gold Cup Recital
Come support the students who have earned their Gold Cup at a special recital.
Friday, March 23, 2018, 6:00pm
LDS Chapel 1390 E MidvalleyRoad (directly across the street from the Enoch Elementary)

Good luck to all the students performing this weekend! You'll do great!
